Following a nomination from our Business Engagement Advisor, Jennifer Zecca, Tai Tarian were chosen as June’s winners due to their investment and commitment to staff training and development.
A FEW WORDS FROM TAI TARIAN ON THEIR EMPLOYER EXPERIENCE…
We have been working with NPTC Group of Colleges for a number of years. We have built up a fantastic working relationship which has allowed us to have honest conversations and challenge the skill sets required to train our staff to become trained Maintenance Operatives.
The maintenance multi-trade apprenticeship was designed to meet the needs of the maintenance industry. We have found this type of apprenticeship has increased productivity, reduced costs and encouraged existing employees to work smarter.
This skill set has enabled us, as a housing association, to undertake more “first-time fixes” as well as being able to complete more jobs with a higher tenant satisfaction rate, as the number of compliments has risen while complaints have fallen.
Having a motivated group of apprentices who communicate, participate and contribute more effectively has also resulted in lower staff turnover and sickness days. Other benefits of having a highly trained workforce include being able to address critical skills gaps and prepare the workforce for future skill requirements, including succession planning.
NPTC Group of Colleges have been able to assist us with upskilling individual operatives who have the skill but did not necessarily have the qualifications, recognised within the industry to achieve just that. For example, our plasterers were upskilled to remove and reinstate radiators, allowing us to achieve a first-time fix for our customers and also reduce costs. We have also had a number of individuals successfully complete higher educational qualifications in construction.
