We are pleased to announce that the winners of our October 2023 Employer of the Month are Pave Aways. Following a nomination by our Business Engagement Advisor Karen Harris-Vernon, Pave Aways were chosen by the panel as October’s winners for their engagement and commitment to training and upskilling of their staff on Fire Door Awareness and Mental Health First Aid.

“The work Pave Aways do with charities, schools, and getting people into employment has been recognised, winning awards for several of their building projects. They have collaborated with other local businesses and service providers to ensure that local people with the right skills work on their projects. Pave Aways are always looking to develop the individual as well as the business and it’s very pleasing that NPTC Group of Colleges can continue to play an important part in this development.”

“Over the past few years we have built a good relationship with NPTC Group of Colleges, Karen Harris-Vernon our Business Engagement Advisor has been really helpful in providing us with information about training and guiding us through the application for the PLA and Part Time funding that we received. It has enabled us to upskill our staff in some of the areas identified in our training plan. The feedback from staff who have completed training has been excellent.”
On the Mental Health Awareness courses: “We identified a need for training and undertook to provide it for all our employees, alongside the counselling service we put in place. The training has made a real difference, helping to reduce the stigma around discussing mental health issues. Everyone has gained the awareness and skills to enable them to signpost anyone they think may need help.”
On the Fire Door Installation Awareness for Supervisors and Fitters / Fire Door Installation on site assessments / Level 2 Site Carpentry courses: “We are committed to upskilling our workforce and the training will enable our carpenters to gain a qualification and develop their skills. This training has enabled us to have an up-to-date understanding of the new legislation and regulations for installing fire doors which will help us to win new contracts.”
