At Newtown College, We run an L2 First Certificate in Sport and Public Services which is equivalent to 4 GCSE’s alongside L1 Sports Leaders Award.
This allows progression onto the level 3 courses or into employment.

Our Level 3 Sport qualifications allow students to achieve a variety of relevant vocational qualifications.

These include the Active Young Leaders Award, L2 Community Sports Leaders Award, Higher Sports Leaders, YMCA Level 2 Fitness Instructor and Safeguarding.

Furthermore, this enables students to carry out community sports coaching in local primary schools.

Students can also help out in the local sports development unit by participating in festivals and URDD.

In addition, students will have the opportunity to work and assist at the N-Able, a disability sports club.

The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Uniformed Public Services is designed to give an overall view of each aspect of services that operate in the UK.

We work closely with the Uniformed Public Services including the fire service, armed forces, police, and paramedics.

Students will experience a wide range of outdoor activities from kayaking to mountain walking.

As well as that, we will provide a number of talks with visiting specialists.

The Football Academy equally train and play home matches at the new 3G pitch at Latham Park.

We use the following facilities at Maldwyn Leisure Centre: sports hall, astroturf pitch, fitness studio and fitness suite.
