Skills for the Workplace is part funded through the Skills and Talent fund. It is a cross-college initiative made possible through the collaboration between NPTC Group of Colleges, Coleg Sir Gar, Gower College, Pembrokeshire College, and the South West Wales Regional Learning & Skills Partnership.
This project takes an innovative ‘sector-based’ approach to deliver work-relevant skills to individuals across South West Wales. It aims to raise the skill levels of those entering the local labour market and those within the current workforce. By doing so, it helps employers and enterprises adapt to economic changes.
Sectors Covered (Levels 3 – 5)
- Construction
- Energy
- Engineering / Advanced Manufacturing
- Digital
- Health and Care
Can I access skills for the workplace funding?
Funding is available to all applicants residing or working in the Swansea Bay City Deal Region (Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, and Swansea) regardless of employment status.
CAN I ACCESS MORE THAN ONE COURSE?
Yes. Upon starting the program, you will develop a personalised training plan that outlines the courses and qualifications you can undertake to advance your career.
To ensure successful completion and effective learning, you must complete one course and achieve certification before you can enrol in and commence the next course in your plan. You are only able to complete one course at a time.
DO I NEED ANY SPECIFIC SKILLS OR QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY?
Some courses may have specific entry requirements related to prior experience or academic background. These will be clearly detailed during the application process.
How much do courses cost?
A small contribution will be required for:
-
- Employed participants, or
- Employers applying on behalf of employees.
For full details of funded courses and applicable charges, please refer to the list below.
What happens if I withdraw or fail to complete a course?
We expect all participants to demonstrate a full commitment to the course before starting. If you are unable to continue, please notify us immediately.
All withdrawals are handled on a case-by-case basis. Please be aware that withdrawing without exceptional mitigating circumstances may require you to repay a portion of the course fees.
You may apply for a new course if you still meet the program’s eligibility criteria. However, if you withdraw from a course for a second time, you will forfeit your entitlement to all future funding through the Skills for the Workplace program.
