Multiply: Numeracy – Presenting Data (Part-Time: e-Learning)

Course Overview

This lesson will enable you to read, understand, interpret and present information/findings using tables, charts, graphs and diagrams. It will also enable you to determine the best method to present your data clearly.

The use of data is increasing throughout the whole world. This is almost certainly due to the increasing availability of computers and electronic means of collecting, organising and storing data. Data conveys information, so data is presented in such a way that it enables the person interrogating it to understand something about the world and the way it works. If the population of a country is continually rising but the amount of food produced stays static, then more food will need to be imported. A graphical representation may get this point across clearly.

This lesson introduces learners to presenting data in tables, pie charts, bar charts and line graphs. Learners will be able to read, understand and interpret information from tables, diagrams, charts and simple graphs. As well as, be able to select different ways to present findings and construct complex tables, charts, graphs and diagrams and label with appropriate titles, scales, axes and keys. Using a fast array of keywords like tables, bar and pie charts, discrete and continuous data, charts, graphs, questionnaire, tally and frequency. Topics such as best presentation methods, types of data, tables, pie charts, bar graphs and line graphs are presented in an easy to understand way. With knowledge check questions throughout and an assessment at the end learners can profit from the information in this lesson.
