Course Overview
The BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment (Civil Engineering) is a Part time course at an advanced level, where a range of construction modules are studied. These include: health, safety and welfare, site surveying, sustainable construction, and Mathematics, Science and materials in construction and the built environment.
This course will meet the needs of those aspiring to a professional or technical career in construction & civil engineering. The course not only serves as a route to full time employment within the industry, it is also a proven progression route to Higher Education.
This may be full degree status programmes at Universities or continuation at Neath Group of Colleges studying the Higher National Certificate (HNC).

Entry Requirements
Subject-specific GCSEs as requested (5 A*-C grades, including Maths and English). Or alternatively a history of working in the industry for several years.

The career opportunities in the construction and civil engineering sector are endless, including professions such as Architecture, Interior Architecture, Building Engineering Services, Quantity Surveying, Site Management, and Building Surveying.
The technical and professional occupations in the sector are fast-moving and challenging. You could be involved in seeing through a project all the way from design stage to construction and completion. These projects might include the development and construction of bridges, tunnels, roads, railways, dams, major buildings, coastal projects, power stations as well as new renewable energy sites.
In addition, you could continue with a Technical or professional apprenticeships at Level 4, Higher Education, HNC Level 4 in Construction and the Built Environment, HNC Level 4 in Construction and the Built Environment (Civil Engineering), HNC Level 4 in Construction and the Built Environment (Quantity Surveying). -
Course Modules
The course covers 9 units which include CAD drawing, site surveying, science and materials in construction and the built environment, Mathematics plus Heath, Safety and Welfare.
Assessment takes the form of in course phase tests, assignments and practical exercises. -
