This Engineering Programme (L2 PEO) is a full-time course that is based over one year. It is a pre-apprenticeship course which is designed to enable students to gain an apprenticeship at the end of the Mechanical engineering is a dynamic and ever-evolving field that plays a critical role in shaping our world. As a mechanical engineer, you will have the opportunity to design and develop innovative solutions to real-world problems, from improving energy efficiency to designing cutting-edge technology.
Through the PEO Mechanical course at a NPTC group, you will gain hands-on experience and practical skills that will prepare you for a successful career in this exciting field. You will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and work alongside our experienced staff who will guide you in honing your skills and pursuing your passions.
By studying mechanical engineering at NPTC group, you will be part of a community of problem solvers and future innovators who are dedicated to making a positive impact on society. Whether you are interested in manufacturing , research and development, Inspection or any other area of mechanical engineering, the possibilities are endless.
This Engineering Programme covers basic knowledge, understanding and skills that are relevant to a wide variety of careers and study routes within the engineering industry and takes a hands on approach to basic engineering training. There are both practical and theoretical classes in Milling, Turning and fitting with additional CAD and CNC units as well as health and safety, engineering drawing, and communicating engineering information with an Additional group tutorial.
Join us in the world of mechanical engineering and discover your potential to create, innovate, and inspire.
The content and structure of the qualification has been developed to provide learners with a comprehensive skills and knowledge needed to do the job, ability to organise work and identify and prevent problems to the practices and processes of engineering. The achievement of NVQs will encourage an employee to value their contribution to the workplace, and it will develop their skills and potential. It covers basic knowledge, understanding and skills that are relevant to a wide variety of careers and study routes within the engineering industry and takes a hands on approach to basic engineering training.
There are both practical and theoretical classes in Milling, Turning and Fitting with additional CAD, CNC and 3D printing units as well as health and safety, engineering drawing, and communicating engineering information with an Additional group tutorial.
4 GCSEs at grade A*-C including Maths and English.
Summary of Outcomes
Students can continue their studies or enter into employment and continue to study on a full time basis or enter into a sponsored Modern Apprenticeship with a participating employer.
Those who have also successfully completed the Level 2 could also continue onto a Level 3 engineering program that we offer e.g.; Engineering Level 3 Advanced Diploma Programmes; Mechanical or Maintenance.
EAL Performing Engineering Operations Level 2. These units are assessed through completed tasks and a section of Knowledge Questions. Unit 001 Health and safety this unit describes the health and safety procedures and processes in the mechanical engineering workshop. Unit 002 working effectively, this unit elaborates on how to work safely and effectively in an engineering environment. Unit 003 Technical drawings in this unit creating ad reading technical drawings. unit 005 Creating components using hand fitting techniques to create components. Unit 011 Turning this unit is learning fundamental techniques for turning components. Unit 12 Milling learning fundamental skills and techniques for milling machines.
Method of Assessment
This course requires continual assessment of practical observations, quality checks of engineered components and college based assignments which will be collated as portfolio evidence to meet the needs of the awarding body. Short written assignments and online examinations are scheduled at key stages throughout the course.
