Plastering 101 (Part-Time)

Course Overview

This short intensive course is designed to provide an introduction to the skills and techniques required for plastering. The course is delivered using a practical approach in professional workshops, under the direction of qualified and experienced plastering experts.

  • Entry Requirements

    Delegates are required to have a certain level of strength and fitness as drylining and plastering demands. E.g. to be able to work as a team of at least two to handle a bag of plaster to be able to mix it, lift plaster boards sometimes above their head and work for approximately 2 hours straight with limited breaks/downtime.

  • Summary of Outcomes

    Successful delegates will gain the opportunity to progress onto the Intermediate, intermediate+ and Advanced Plastering courses.

    On successful completion of this course, delegates will receive a discount on purchasing Makita power tools from Data Power tools in Cardiff or Swansea. They will also receive a discount voucher for Marshall Town tools SB Tools online.

  • Course Modules

    This course covers:
    - Health and safety
    - Removing old plaster boards from walls and ceilings and loading a skip safely
    - Assessing and preparing stud partitions to be dry-lined
    - Dry-line the walls ceiling boxing and window
    - Dot and dab a block wall
    - Adhesives and bonding agents
    - Skrim tape and bead work
    - Mixing plaster
    - Repairing stud walls and ceilings
    - Skimming plaster board walls and ceiling
    - Skimming over existing plaster
    - Skimming around obstacles
