Build Your Future with NPTC Group of Colleges

The School of Construction and Built Environment is the largest School within the NPTC Group of Colleges.

It offers a range of courses where students can benefit from expert and enthusiastic tutors with a wealth of industry knowledge who deliver sessions in an interesting and supportive way.

These include programmes in traditional building craft disciplines such as Brickwork, Bench Joinery, Carpentry, Painting and Decorating, Plastering, Plumbing, and Electrical Installation.

Besides, we also offer professional and technical courses in Construction and Civil Engineering.

We are a major provider of Construction Education in Wales and the quality of our provision is the cornerstone of the School’s success, with many of our courses demonstrating excellent success rates, which are above average in this sector.

As a result, we are one of the top-performing colleges in Wales for Construction, Planning, and the Built Environment.

The Construction Industry continues to enjoy significant growth and remains a strategic priority sector for the Welsh Government which offers well-paid and enjoyable career opportunities.

Of course, The Construction Industry can provide a long-term sustainable career, with many of our students progressing in various Built Environment Professions, Construction Management and Allied Industries.

Moreover, several large scale projects will take place in the South Wales region and include regeneration of Swansea City Centre, private housing developments and infrastructure projects that will support the “City Deal” in Swansea.

Other Megaprojects will take place in other regions of the UK which offer students tremendous employment prospects.

Notably, the college has successfully piloted a ‘Women Building Wales’ project; which encourages women into the construction industry.

Construction programmes are located across five major campuses:

With the current skills shortage in the construction industry, high-quality teaching and assessment continue to be an increasingly important factor for students, with several training agents such as CITB, Pathways Training, Cyfle available.

Powys Training has adopted the NPTC Group of Colleges as their preferred place for offsite training for their apprentices.

Our strong links with local industries are maintained through various activities such as work-based assessment and group training meetings. We also have close links with Construction Skills, CIOB, RICS, and other training providers.

Not to mention, our plastering department has been named the best in the UK for two years running by the Master and Wardens of the Worshipful Company of Plaisterers, with student Liam McGinley crowned the Best Young Bricklayer in Wales 2017 and Josh Wells being a finalist for plastering at the UK Worldskills Finals.
