The SPF Net Zero Skills Development Project, headed by a dedicated team within the NPTC Group of Colleges’ Business Development Unit, has made significant strides in promoting green skills and enhancing the capabilities of businesses in Powys and beyond. This initiative, funded by the Shared Prosperity Fund, aims to equip local companies in Powys with the necessary skills to transition towards a net-zero economy, thereby fostering sustainable practices across various sectors.
Engagement and Outreach
The project has successfully engaged with a wide range of stakeholders, which effectively raised awareness about the importance of green skills and the training opportunities available. The Net Zero Skills Development Officer played a pivotal role in this outreach to local businesses, promoting a range of relevant courses and events. Additionally, collaboration with regional organizations has broadened the reach of workshops and training resources. This cooperative strategy has not only boosted participation but has also cultivated a sense of community among enterprises committed to sustainability.
The Net Zero team have engaged with over 100 business in the past 12 months and provided advice and guidance on funded opportunities and training to help them achieve their goals.
It would not have been possible without the support of the Business Development Unit.
This project has been a success, and we will continue to support business throughout the region and across Wales.
– Robert Harris, Net Zero Skills Development Officer
In collaboration with Mid Wales Manufacturing, the project has also reached out to clients across the region, ensuring that the workshops and Net Zero course links were widely distributed. This collaborative approach has not only increased participation but has also fostered a sense of community among businesses striving for sustainability.
