GCSE Mathematics (Part-Time: Online Delivery) January Start

Course Overview

A fast-track GCSE Mathematics class with examinations in May/June. Delivery will be online and approximately 3 hours per week. The course will prepare you for the intermediate-level assessments, where the highest grade achievable is a B. The assessment papers are split into calculator and non-calculator papers. This intensive course will also require students to undertake at least 3 hours of self-study per week to ensure suitable progress in time for the summer examinations.

Candidates will be expected to attend the end-of-year exams at NPTC Group of Colleges (Afan College, Brecon Beacons College, Neath College or Newtown College).

  • Summary of Outcomes

    Career Prospects: A C grade in GCSE maths is required for many jobs. An increasing number of universities and courses require a B grade as part of their entry requirements.

    Examinations

    There are two examinations which take place in May and June. Both papers make up 50% of the final mark.

    Paper 1 - Non-Calculator Paper
    Paper 2 - Calculator Paper
    The following grades are available: E, D, C and B.

  • Additional Costs

    Essential Mathematical equipment is needed for this course, this includes: a scientific calculator, a ruler, a protractor, and a compass.
